An unusual Craigellachie bottling here from the robust, meaty Speyside distillery. This 19-year-old release has a surprising pineapple note when compared to the 17yo expression. It’s been matured in an array of cask types prior to vatting, with half then heading to first-fill sherry casks, and half to first-fill bourbon. Bold and powerful, it’s an intriguing bottling from the distillery known for its sulphurous side.
Tasting notes from Craigellachie: Intense aroma of pineapple chunks in syrup, spicy, rich and complex, fortified with an intriguing sulphury backbone. To the taste this 19 year old Craigellachie delivers a sweet biscuity base, with a hint of smoke.
