The highly anticipated 2024 8 year old Kilkerran bottling is here! The single malt is the peated, deliciously expressive sibling to Springbank – and it is just as in-demand. Each annual release drops in one or two batches, and previous iterations include bourbon and Port expressions. This time, we’ve been treated to an Oloroso sherry bottling from the Campbeltown maker.
Tasting notes from Kilkerran:
Nose: Notes of soft peat smoke, leather-bound books and sticky toffee pudding are present on the nose.
Palate: The familiar rich and dirty character of our Kilkerran 8 year old sherry series is clear to taste. We also get thick date syrup, blackcurrants, cherries, redcurrants and a maritime coastal taste.
Finish: As the whisky develops, there are notes of ashy medicinal smoke, ginger and chocolate oranges.
