A limited release from Speyside single malt maker Tomintoul, where the spirit was initially matured in ex-Bourbon barrels prior to a finishing period in Pinot Noir casks. An interesting twist from the Scotch distillery known for its sherry focus.
Tasting note:
Nose: Very dessert-like on the nose, with sweet pastries, baking spices, caramel and even raspberry compote.
Palate: A lively mouthfeel with a palate that builds consistently on the nose. An earthy tobacco drifts in later, along with liquorice.
Finish: Medium length and a little nutty.
