Port of Leith Oloroso Sherry 17.5%

Notes from the producers

Sourced from Bodegas Baron, a 480 year old producer with a very modern outlook, the un-matured version of this Oloroso wine will be used to season our oak casks in Sanlúcar de Barrameda, in the heart of Jerez in South West Spain, before we ship them to Scotland to fill them with whisky.

Sherry plays a crucial role in transforming the character of many of Scotland’s best-loved whiskies, and this sherry will enhance ours. So we thought it should be savoured and enjoyed while we wait for our whisky.

Tasting Notes from MTP (Milroy's tasting panel)

Nose: Lots of deep dark fruits as we might have expected, figs, Dates, Plumbs, hints of soft demerara sugar, candied citrus peel, a vibrant fruity note adds a nice little dimension to this sherry, some nice caramel wafer and toasted tea cakes, some nutty aromas and red velvet sponge.

Palate: Wow not as heavy as expected, a really nice mouthfeel to this sherry, nothing clawing what so ever just nice rich fruity notes from the start, with a freshness of soft mint sprigs and soft spices, dark chocolate, some cracked pepper and red apple skins, soft red grapes with a touch of ginger root.
