Milroys Islay Port Ellen 1977 Bottled 1996 

Nose: Sweet and dry fruits, lots of rich coastal aromas soon take over, with a mineral note of chalk, almond paste with a touch of lemon juice, smoke and peat with a hint of tar and old boat rope. 

Palate: Waxy oily and fruity all in one hit as this dram opens the front of the palate, a nice rich fruity note of candied orange, charcoal with hints of lemon and dried peach, smoke and peat underpinning the mid and late palate, salted peanuts, rich with smoked meats, iodine and honey adding a islay note on the palate. 

A classic Islay of old that was more than just smoke and peat, with layers and twist across the palate.
