Orkney 16 Year Old 2006 Chapter 7 Monologue 32 - 54% ABV
A wonderfully aged release from one of Scotland’s most northerly distilleries – that Orkney producer that releases its whiskies under the name ‘Whitlaw’!. This has come from a single ex-bourbon hogshead which lets the malty, slightly smoky distillery character shine.
Tasting note:
Nose: Surprisingly herbal with a saline, coastal hint, along with orchard fruits and a signature dried floral smoke.
Palate: Heather honey comes to the fore, along with stone fruits, foam bananas, and zesty citrus peels. There’s a subtle waft of smoke, too.
Finish: Medium length with sweet spices and more gentle smoke.
