Oban Distillers Edition Montilla Cask Finish 43% ABV
A wonderful sherry-influenced bottling from coastal single malt Scotch whisky distillery, Oban. Double matured in Montilla Fino sherry-seasoned casks, there’s a fruit-led nuttiness to the typically quite light dram, and it works brilliantly. It’s part of the Distillers Edition series that can be spotted across many of Diageo’s malt distilleries.
Tasting note:
Nose: Immediately there’s stone fruit, pecan, cumin and burnt toast, followed by aromatic oak and a touch of fresh air breeziness.
Palate: Quite grain forward, but complexity builds with sultanas, juicy berries, marzipan and a sizzle of black pepper.
Finish: Medium length with gently warming oak.
