A flagship dram from Speyside's iconic single malt distillery. The Macallan 18 Year Old represents the perfect balance of oily, fruity distillery character with the rich darkness imparted by its signature sherry casks. An opulent dram indeed.
Nose: Dark plumbs and soft dates, hints of caramel shortbread with milk chocolate and a gentle note of sweet spices, vanilla and soft toasted oak, a little strawberry jam and sponge cakes.
Palate: Rich and smooth sherry cask notes from the off, dates and cocoa, dark dried fruits, Jaffa cake and vanilla, dried strawberries, candied orange peel adds another hint of smooth sweet citrus, cinnamon patisseries and a touch of silky smooth cream and chocolate.
Finish: Long, with those cinnamon and chocolate notes lingering on.
