Lowland single malt Scotch whisky distillery Lochlea returns with the third and final edition of its seasonal Harvest Edition release. Third Crop coincides with the whisky-makers sixth birthday too, making it a double celebration! The whisky itself has been double matured in both refill Bourbon barrels and Port hogsheads, with the addition of some Oloroso sherry-aged stock, too. The lively, fruit-forward release celebrates harvest time on the Lochlea farm, when 222 acres of Laureate barley is cut to be malted. The limited edition whisky has been released at natural colour with no chill-filtration.
Tasting notes from Lochlea:
Nose: Bright red grapes, fresh strawberry jam and clotted cream.
Palate: Sweeter notes of baked apple pie and white chocolate.
Finish: Beautifully balanced, with savoury notes of cracked black pepper.
