Loch Lomond Open Special Edition 2023 151th Royal Liverpool Rioja Finish 46% ABV
A commemorative bottling here from Highland Scotch whisky distillery Loch Lomond! It was bottled in partnership with The Open golf tournament and in collaboration with the distillery’s brand ambassador, Colin Montgomerie. Interestingly after being aged in American oak casks it’s been finished in Rioja red wine barrels! Rich, juicy, and chocolatey – and a must-taste, whether or not you’re a golf fan.
Tasting note:
Nose: Soft and floral, with soft orchard fruits, peach and bread-and-butter pudding arriving along with gentle spices.
Palate: Unctuous red berries and a basket-load more apples and pears, plus dusty dark chocolate notes wrapped up in a creamy texture.
Finish: Medium length with even more fruit and a gentle hint of smoke.
