Matured in 90% bourbon and 10% sherry casks, this heavily peated release is the seventh batch in the Peat in Progress series from the Glengyle distillery. Bottled in 2022 at a 59.1%.
The nose is all bonfires with flashes of vanilla, honey and toasty oak. Explosions of peat define the palate but there's depth too with cocoa nibs, chocolate-covered raisins and dried orange peel. The sherry influence is present and well integrated but allows the peat to shine. A great dram that shows that this distillery is on course to one of the greats.
