Kavalan Solist Vinho Cask / # 061A (2016) / 56.3% / 70cl 

American oak wine barrels that have been toasted and re-charred in a way that brings out fruity vanilla notes from the whisky.   

Nose - A rich vanilla, some dark and milk chocolate, caramelised orchard fruits, some soft tropical fruits like melon and mango add freshness, while some peppers and waxy tones add to this most interesting nose.  

Palate: Lots of rich dark fruits, hints of dark chocolate and spices,  ripe melon, citrus fruits, soft spices add a nice depth to the mid palate before we head into a long and tasty finish, raspberries and mango with a vanilla pod and soft caramel toffee.
