Highland Park 18 Year Old
A superb 18 year old from the Highland Park distillery and a winner of a Gold Medal at the 2005 San Francisco World Spirits Competition.
The whisky reveals the complex nature of Highland Park's spirit; a gentle heathery smoke with orchard fruits and coastal notes. The influence of the sherry cask maturation is undeniable with peppery oak notes insisting in the mid palate followed by a profusion of ripe floral notes and fresh blossom with a delectable fruit salad.
Nose: A rich creamy forward note of honey and soft autumnal fruits, a slightly tangy aroma of spices come in but never over dominate as layer after layer of fruit and floral notes develop perfectly in the glass.
Palate: Some rich creamy citrus and honey tones wrap together to deliver a sublime richness across the whole palate as more flavour and depth unfold. Barley sugar and soft chewy toffee, peaches and cream with a dash of cherry and dark chocolate.
A sublime long lingering smooth finish round off this excellent classic single malt.
