We move into the forests of Japan for some gentle smoke and herbal notes from the world famous Hakushu distillery established 1973.
The water that is used to make Hakushu has been on a long journey in terms of time as the water is filtered through Granite rock before it reaches the distillery to make one of the more taste forward styles we associate closer to our own shores.
A great dram with a more rounded soft smoke that becomes so perfectly balanced across the whole palate.
Nose: Fresh delicate summer time tones with a white chocolate and melon aroma, some soft spiced edges with a minty green freshness that draws you in.
Palate: Warming subtle spiced fruit loaf, some vanilla and lemon bon bons mingle perfectly with a zesty sweet smoke and grapefruit that refreshes the palate and coats it with a balance of flavours from the fist sip to the subtle smoke in the finish.
