Glen Elgin 23 Year Old 1998 Rare Find Cask #900286
A wonderful expression from the lesser-seen but much adored Speyside distillery, Glen Elgin. Bottled from a refill ex-bourbon barrel by the Rare Cask team at Gleann Mòr Spirits, this is a lovely 23-year-old dram – full of sweetness, gentle spice, and an elegant complexity that comes with long ageing. Glen Elgin is predominantly used in Diageo’s blends, so it’s a treat to see this single cask bottling.
Nose: Fresh tropical fruits, lychees and boiled sweets bring a zesty sweetness, along with subtle nutmeg and cassia spice.
Palate: The tropical fruit evolves into a juicy pineapple, with depth coming from white pepper and vanilla pods. Coconut gives a creamy texture, alongside a mouth-watering milk chocolate.
Finish: Medium length with lingering sweet, soft spices.
