Convalmore 32 Year Old 1984  Special Releases 2017 48.2% - 70cl

This distillery is one of only a handful to still stand more or less intact as a distillery but it's no longer used as one, its main use now is as additional storage for the William Grants whiskies who own Balvenie and Glenfiddich.

Opening in in 1897 rather late to the rush of the 1800's this distillery is in the heart of Speyside near Dufftown, sitting next to Balvenie it was one of the great distilling houses of the area, like so many old distilleries its seen its share of highs and lows, including a fire in 1909,  Finally closing its doors in 1985 this is one of the now one of highly regarded closed distilleries.

This classic old school Speyside Vintage delivers some great taste and balance across the whole palate. ‘Melting candle wax, orchard fruits and Tart Tatin with dried apricots and old leather’.

Nose: A nice bold opening to the nose, with a hint of oil and soft melted wax, rich and fruity with orchard fruits and a hint of spice, a little hint of peach and soft caramel, lots of balance leading to a warm leather tone.

Palate: A rich and complex dram that works on all fronts, with fruits that build in the glass alongside spices that seamlessly work together, soft fruits cake and a candied orange peel, hints of summer and tropical fruits, soft toasted brioche, some tangy sweet tones in the lingering balanced finish.
