Compass-box Ultramarine The extinct blends quartet 51% vol
Producers background notes.
Ultramarine is inspired by an iconic deluxe blended Scotch, in particular the first bottling’s of the late 1980s and early 1990s. Harnessing old school Sherry casks and ethereal peatiness, Ultramarine highlights the enchanting possibilities, and the breadth of flavours and textures, afforded by combinations of aged malt and grain whiskies.
Milroy's Tasting Panel Notes (MTP)
Nose: Some toffee and soft polished leather, toasted oak and sweet cinnamon, some earthy notes of wet oak and smoke flow in as the dram rests in the glass, with aromatic sherry like notes and sweet spices this whisky has a lot happening on the nose.
Palate: A complex and superbly rich opening on the palate, with toasted grain’s and soft summer fruits with a lacing of smoke and peat, some nutty flavours mingle with a rich peach and plumb, salted caramel and candied banana, heading into the finish more smoke and peat builds up with a rich deep sherry and dry spices note.
