Carpathian Single Malt Pedro Ximénez Cask 46% ABV
Part of the Carpathian Single Malt Spanish and Portuguese Wine Cask collection, this Pedro Ximénez release from the Romanian maker is a fruit-forward expression indeed. It spent three years in American white oak barrels from Kentucky, before being moved into ex-PX butts. Carpathian Distillery started making whisky in 2017, becoming the first in the country to do so.
Tasting note:
Nose: Rich and intense, with dried florals and nuttiness in with apricots, figs, raisins, and some oakiness.
Palate: Lots of almond notes alongside soft vanilla, more dark fruits, figs, dried citrus and dates.
Finish: Medium length and lingering with some fruit-spice complexity.
