Caol Ila distillery on the island of Islay is well known amongst whisky collectors. One of the classic malts, this distillate is extremely popular with blenders, bottlers, drinkers and collectors. The early 80s was a particularly enlightened period of distillation with expressions distilled at this time displaying intense tropical fruits balanced with fiery coal embers.
