Bunnahabhain 25 Year Old 46.3% ABV

The grand dame of Bunnahabhain’s core range, this is a stunningly complex, richly nutty single malt from the Islay distillery. Presented at natural colour and without chill-filtration, it’s a shining example of the effects of long oak ageing on liquid from the historical Scotch producer. Always a much-loved, well-sherried dram, the decision to increase the ABV from 43% to 46.3% has been much welcomed by whisky lovers.

Nose: The nose opens with rich marzipan, followed by polished leather and sweet toffee. Sweet spices follow, along with a coffee note.

Palate: Bold and rich, the palate continues the theme of sweet complexity. Nutmeg, Christmas cake spice and an earthy liquorice round out the sticky toffee pudding confection.

Finish: More nutmeg, and then the toffee sweetness lingers on.
