Blended Malt 40 Year Old / Milroy's / 43.2% / 70cl
The malts were vatted together in 1983 using 8 single malts distilled in 1975. Once the Vatting was done the casks rested in Campbeltown until they reached over four decades old.
If you wanted to know how good a 40 year old malt should be then this just might be for you.
Nose: As soon as you open this bottle up a fruity note hits you with some pears and apricots, banana split with maple syrup. A lucky bag of candy with barley sugar twists. Summer hay bales and a little salted caramel.
Palate: Some sweet honey at the front with a touch of creamy spices, tropical fruits are here on the palate but not overly sweet, a really nice balance across the whole palate is growing, cedarwood and hints of dark cacao nibs, vanilla and caramel, some green apples, spiced pears and a little waxiness.
A finish of mangos, cedar and spice add to this incredible whisky.
