Banff 21 Years Old 57.1% Vol Rare Malts Collection 1982 Bottled 2004
Distilled in 1982 aged in Oak Cask until bottling under the Rare Malts Label 21 years later during the early years of the new Millenium.
The Distillery was established in 1824, the distillery sadly had a number of issues over its years in production including several fires and even being bombed during WW2, each time they rebuilt and started again.
In 1983 it was mothballed like so many distilleries during that period due to the economic situation the UK found itself in, it was thought it just might open again but that idea was finally lost following a fire in 1991 destroying what little was left.
Banff is a legendary single malt worthy of its loyal following in the world of rare whiskies.
Nose: Some sweet zesty fruits with a hint of citrus and barley sugar twists, warm toffee popcorn, apples with a hint of tangerine and grape, some wood notes with a hint of ripe pears and spiced fruits in syrup.
Palate: Rich and full bodied flavours across of the palate, some pear tart, cotton candy and rich barley sugar notes, some dried spices, summer fruits and herbal notes build a complexity into this fantastic dram, as this dram continues to grow on the palate some nice citrus flavours add another layer to the palate.
