Balblair 10 Year Old 2011 Old Particular 48.4% ABV

A delicious bottling from Highland Scotch distillery Balblair, snapped up by Douglas Laing and released as part of its Old Particular series. The single cask was distilled back in 2011 and was left to mature for a whole ten years in a refill butt. It’s released at a hearty 48.4% ABV, and this is one of just 561 bottles.

Tasting note:

Nose: Like a  bakery first thing in the morning, there’s croissants, Victoria sponge cake and lemon drop sweets, along with delicate sweet spices.

Palate: The palate is a little richer, with Werther’s Original sweets, honeycomb and milk chocolate, as well as dried orange peel and cumin.

Finish: Medium length and nutty, with more sponge cake.
