A fascinating release from iconic Islay maker Ardbeg that feels a bit like an experience in time travelling. The futuristic outer pack almost belies the traditional nature of the whisky within. This 2000 vintage, released after 23 years in sherry casks, celebrates the production style at the distillery at the turn of the millennium. Just three years after Glenmorangie Company acquired the producer, this bottling marks an uptick in Ardbeg’s popularity. Interestingly, it also contains some of the last spirit distilled in a 51-year-old still that was retired in 2001.
