Mothering takes all kinds of forms and we’ll be raising a glass to every single one on Sunday 30 March.

Ardnamurchan AD/Madeira Cask Release 2025

This is a bottling that will impress any whisky-loving mum. The latest release from cult distillery Ardnamurchan, it’s been made with 60:40 unpeated to unpeated spirit and finished for two years in Madeira casks. And the smoky-sweet profile is outstanding! If she knows her drams, this is sure to impress – especially as Ardnamurchan bottlings typically sell out fast.

Woven No.13 Catalyst

If your mum likes to contemplate a dram as she sips, then Woven No. 13 will be right up her street. Given the name ‘Catalyst’, this experimental blend from the Leith-based blender offers an array of nutty, yeasty, milk chocolate notes, with a whole heap of sweet spices arriving on the palate. Plus, the sleek label design looks as good as the whisky tastes.

Hakushu Distiller's Reserve

Japanese whisky always feels like a treat, and this release from Hakushu is something very special. There’s a whole load of sweet citrus complexity going on in this single malt, backed by a gentle smoke to add depth. We adore this elegant balance. It's also got an outdoorsy, woody note – perfect if your mum likes to savour a whisky in the garden.

Veuve Clicquot Rosé

No celebration is complete without fizz – and this rosé expression from stellar Champagne house Veuve Clicquot is a guaranteed crowd-pleaser. Fresh, fragrant and sublimely crisp, it’s the perfect pre-Sunday lunch pour. We also think the copper-pink hue is just stunning. Rock up at your mum’s armed with this and a bunch of flowers and you’ll be the favourite child forever.

Isle of Harris Gin

If your mum prefers her drinks juniper-scented, this gorgeous bottling from Isle of Harris is all you need this Mother’s Day. Yes, it's beautiful (just look at it!), but it’s strikingly delicious, too. It’s made on the Hebridean island, with a key botanical the sugar kelp that’s hand-harvested from the local shoreline. With coriander seed, cubeb pepper, bitter orange peel, angelica root, cassia bark, orris root, liquorice root and, of course, juniper, it’s the ideal Martini gin.

Appleton Estate 15 Year Old

Is your mum dreaming of sunnier climates this Mother’s Day? If forking out to whisk her to the Caribbean isn’t within budget (can you adopt us if it is?), then this rum is the next best thing. Crafted at Jamaica's Appleton Estate, this is a fantastically aged molasses-based rum bursting with tropical fruit, sweet spice and gorgeous fudge notes. Pour it out over ice in the garden and dream.
