The Beam family began distilling in 1795, just a few years after Kentucky became a US state, making Jim Beam one of the longest-running bourbon producers in America. The distillery’s story is deeply intertwined with the evolution of bourbon itself, surviving Prohibition, changing tastes, and modern expansion while remaining a family-led operation for seven generations.

Founded by Jacob Beam, the business started small, selling barrels of whiskey under the name “Old Jake Beam Sour Mash.” The company passed through generations, with James Beauregard Beam (known as “Jim”) taking over in the early 20th century. Prohibition halted production in 1920, but when it ended in 1933, Jim Beam rebuilt the distillery in just 120 days, and the modern brand took his name.

Beyond the core lineup, the brand produces the Jim Beam Small Batch Collection, including Knob Creek, Baker’s, Booker’s, and Basil Hayden’s, offering higher-end, more robust bourbons for enthusiasts.

Flavour-wise, Jim Beam bourbon is known for its balance of sweetness and spice. The White Label delivers vanilla, caramel, and light nutty notes, with a gentle rye spice on the finish. The Black Label intensifies the oak and toffee elements, while the Single Barrel offers bolder, more concentrated flavours.
