Domaine Dupont is one of the most respected names in Calvados, producing exceptional apple brandies from the heart of the Pays d’Auge region in Normandy, France. Known for its meticulous orchard management, traditional distillation, and long, careful ageing, Dupont has built a reputation for crafting Calvados of remarkable purity, depth, and elegance.

A Family Heritage

The Dupont estate dates back to 1887, but it was in the 1980s that Etienne Dupont modernised the operation while maintaining traditional methods. Today, the domaine remains family-run, with Jérôme Dupont continuing the legacy. Their philosophy combines artisanal skill with precision agriculture, ensuring each bottle reflects the unique terroir of the Pays d’Auge.

The Orchards

Dupont owns around 30 hectares of orchards planted exclusively with cider apple varieties approved for Calvados production.

Careful blending of varieties at harvest gives the cider, and ultimately the Calvados, its layered flavour profile. The estate practices sustainable farming, minimising chemical inputs and encouraging biodiversity.

Production Methods

Dupont Calvados is made under the strict AOC Pays d’Auge regulations, which require:
• Double distillation in copper pot stills.
• Use of cider made only from apples grown within the region.
• Minimum ageing in oak casks.

The cider is fermented slowly over several months before distillation, allowing complex aromas to develop. The spirit then ages in a combination of new and seasoned oak barrels, with some casks previously holding wine or fortified wine for additional character.
