One of the defining characteristics of Bombay Sapphire is its vapour infusion distillation method, which differs from the more common practice of steeping botanicals directly in the neutral grain spirit. Instead, the botanicals are placed in perforated copper baskets within the still. As the spirit vapour rises during distillation, it passes through the botanicals, gently extracting their aromatic oils. This technique results in a lighter, more delicate flavour profile compared to traditional maceration, allowing each botanical to shine without one dominating the others.
