The Barley. Estate grown cadboll Barley strain, The barley is malted then heavily roasted, this gives the name Chocolate barley due to its roasting method, most others are slowly air dried or with heat from burning peat or other organic materials while spread on a malting floor rather than roasted.

The resulting dried barley has a richness that delvers a darker more seasoned taste while keeping a richness that helps deliver a richness of this single malt, with some of the oldest whiskies in the Glenmorangie bonds used to make this this one-of-a-kind single malt it’s a taste journey to enjoy.

Nose: Butterscotch and vanilla pod, fresh baked artisan fruit cake, damsons and fresh succulent figs, a dash of cinnamon and toasted almonds, 80% chocolate solids and raisins, a touch of dark honey, caramel and spices.

Palate: The richness of the nose is on the front of the palate, lots of dark fruits and berries arrive, some slow roasted ground coffee and soft milky foam, hints of peaches and truffles, mango sweetness leading to a rich mid palate of chocolate and fruit cake, some brandy snaps and candied orange, the finish is smooth and elegant with a touch of damson and spice, a little hint of truffles subtle black pepper, leading to a flourish of smooth autumnal fruits.
