Ben Nevis 9 Year Old 2012 Woodrow's of Edinburgh 58% ABV

A brilliant Ben Nevis bottling with a fascinating cask make-up. It was aged in a single refill hogshead before being finished in and vatted from American and European oloroso and Pedro Ximénez blood-tubs. Blood-tubs are tiny casks, usually 30-40 litres, and are very rarely seen in whisky production. A great opportunity to experience the profound impact these vessels have on flavour.

Tasting note:

Nose: Rich, bold and lively, with dark chocolate, nutmeg, unlit cigars, orange oil and gingerbread pieces.

Palate: The mouth-coatingly sherried character continues with thick marzipan, cinnamon, toffee apple and deep spices.

Finish: Long with drying aromatic spices.
