Diplomaticos ist eine vergleichsweise junge Marke aus den 1960er Jahren. Seine ursprüngliche Aufstellung hatte eine deutliche Ähnlichkeit mit Montecristo, da zur Beschreibung seiner Größe Zahlen und keine Namen verwendet wurden.
Die verbleibende Größe Nr. 2 ist eine Mischung aus Füll- und Umblattblättern mit mittlerem bis vollem Geschmack aus der Vuelta Abajo-Zone ‘Langgehäuse komplett von Hand gefertigt’ – Longfiller, komplett handgefertigt.
