A really special single malt here. Distilled at the lesser-spotted Speyside distillery Braeval, this bottling has spent over three decades in a refill bourbon barrel. While it’s a working distillery, it’s really unusual to see Braeval (formerly known as Braes of Glenlivet) bottled as a single malt. Or indeed a single cask from independent bottlers like Tri Carragh! Released at a natural strength of 50.6% ABV, it’s bursting with vanilla, strawberry and ripe orchard fruit notes. Surprisingly vibrant for its age, this release is a must-taste if you’re a fan of old and rare Speyside malts.
