Bacardi

(0 Produkte)

Bacardi is the world’s most recognisable rum brand and a household name in cocktail culture, celebrated for over 160 years of rum-making heritage. Founded in 1862 in Santiago de Cuba by Don Facundo Bacardí Massó, the company revolutionised rum production, transforming it from a rough, fiery spirit into a smooth, refined drink that became the foundation for many of the world’s most famous cocktails.

Today, Bacardi is still family-owned, now in its seventh generation, and produces its rums in Puerto Rico, Mexico, and other locations, with its global headquarters in Bermuda.

A Pioneer in Rum Innovation

When Don Facundo began experimenting with rum, the spirit was largely harsh and unrefined. He introduced techniques such as:
• Charcoal filtration- for a cleaner, smoother flavour.
• Careful ageing - in lightly charred oak barrels to add depth without overwhelming the spirit.
• Special yeast cultivation - from local sugarcane, to create a distinctive fermentation character.

These innovations helped create the light-bodied style of rum that Bacardi is still known for today.

From Cuba to the World

Bacardi quickly became popular in Cuba and beyond, associated with the island’s vibrant social life and tropical allure. The brand survived numerous challenges, including earthquakes, hurricanes, Prohibition, and exile following the Cuban Revolution in 1959, after which Bacardi moved its operations abroad.

Production and Style

Bacardi primarily uses molasses derived from sugarcane and employs continuous column still distillation for a clean, light spirit. Ageing takes place in American white oak barrels, often ex-bourbon, under warm Caribbean conditions, which accelerate maturation.

The house style is approachable, smooth, and versatile — ideal for mixing but also refined enough for sipping in its aged expressions.

Our Selection

Our Bacardi range includes the iconic Carta Blanca for cocktail classics, richly flavoured dark and gold rums, and premium aged expressions like Ocho and Diez for sipping. Whether you’re mixing a refreshing mojito, crafting a daiquiri true to its Cuban roots, or enjoying a neat pour, Bacardi offers a taste of rum-making history, a legacy that spans continents and continues to shape the way the world drinks rum today.
