September is famously the month of mists and mellow fruitfulness. But here at Milroy’s it also heralds a season of full-throttle flavour: our latest Soho Selection bottlings have arrived!
Not only does this cohort of six whiskies and a rum celebrate all the deliciousness of autumn, it also shows off a brand new look for Soho Selection. We’ve pared back the fuss and brought in a minimal new look. Don’t worry – there’s all the information you need to understand exactly why your spirit tastes the way it does (from distillation and bottling dates to cask type and more). But we’ve matched a sleeker look and feel to the modern, esoteric, exciting profiles that Soho Selection showcases.
A new visualisation for flavour
As part of our label makeover you may have noticed bands of colour wrapping around the new Soho Selection designs. This underscores our commitment to flavour celebration. We all know that you can’t tell what a whisky will taste like from looking at it. So we’ve introduced three distinct colour cues to help especially newer drinkers navigate the aroma and flavour spectrum across our bottlings.

Blue – Bright & Fresh: think floral- and citrus-driven profiles, often with coastal freshness and a clean finish

Red – Rich & Robust: expect dried fruits, oak spices, dark chocolate and coffee notes, set within rich, dense structures

Green – Soft & Aromatic: gentle with caramel, honey, vanilla, cereal and subtle fruit notes, all wrapped up in a creamy texture
You’ll also find a clear note on each bottle which shows whether it’s peated or not. We love smoke – but we know not everybody does. And that’s ok!

Braeval 16 Year Old 2010 55.8% 70cl
Get set for something wildly unexpected: Speyside single malt Scotch distillery Braeval is totally reimagined for Soho Selection with full maturation in a peated ex-Palo Cortado octave. The result is mouthwateringly delicious with tropical fruits, white chocolate and an irreverent industrial smoke note. It’s bold, fun and thoroughly fascinating – exactly how we love our whiskies.

Braeval 16 Year Old 2010 56.9% 70cl
An unusual take on this relatively modern Speyside maker, with Braeval’s floral style transformed by full maturation in a white Port barrique. The delicate spirit takes on a rich, dessert-like character, rooted in coffee grounds and dark spices. Deliciously intriguing single malt Scotch.

Glen Moray 17 Year Old 2009 54.3% 70cl
Energetic, vibrant and richly spiced, this energetic single malt from Speyside’s Glen Moray is a rambunctiously fun sip. Drawn from a pair of ex-bourbon barrels, there’s a myriad of dense chocolatey notes enrobing orchard fruits, dried grass and sweet pastries. A hugely enjoyable and strikingly lively Scotch, and a perfect addition to our Soho Selection line-up.

Glentauchers 15 Year Old 2011 50.1% 70cl
Speyside distillery Glentauchers has long been prized as a top-quality whisky for blends – but today, whisky lovers in the know are seeking it out in its own right. This light, ethereal release seems delicate at first sip, but dig in and you’ll discover a wealth of floral, herbal, irresistibly lush complexity. A rewarding, deeply satisfying single malt.

Laphroaig 5 Year Old 2020 57.1% 70cl
An essential single malt for Islay purists, this vibrantly youthful, powerfully evocative bottling showcases Laphroaig at its most authentic. Aged for just five years in an ex-bourbon cask, the iconic distillery’s signature smoke is unfettered and unmistakable. A truly striking expression.

Pulteney 12 Year Old 2014 54.6% 70cl
Take a trip up north with this zesty, fresh, yet invitingly dessert-like single malt from Pulteney. Drawn from a single 2014 ex-bourbon barrel, it’s a meandering, sumptuous, yet never overwrought expression offering an array of icing sugar, caramel and nutty notes set in an invitingly oily texture. Delicious whisky from one of Scotland’s most northerly makers.

Foursquare Rum 19 Year Old 2006 50.6% 70cl
A bonus rum! Barbados-based maker Foursquare is celebrated for its complexity, vibrance and purity of expression. This 2006 bottling, drawn from a single barrel, perfectly fits the bill with its rich jammy sweetness balanced beautifully by baking spices and a deep, organic funk. An eloquent, bright bottling that demands exploration.
