Founded in 2008 by industry veterans James Espey and Tom Jago, both of whom had been instrumental in creating iconic brands like Johnnie Walker Blue Label and Chivas Regal 18, The Last Drop was built on a singular vision: to seek out “the rarest spirits on earth” and share them with those who truly appreciate their uniqueness.
Philosophy and Approach
The Last Drop operates more like a curator of fine art than a conventional spirits company. They do not distil or produce new spirit; instead, they travel the world in search of forgotten casks and exceptional parcels of whisky, cognac, rum, bourbon, and other rare spirits. These may be long-forgotten in a distillery’s warehouse, hidden in a family cellar, or overlooked in an ageing stockpile.
Every release is hand-selected for its outstanding quality, age, and singular character. Each bottling is deliberately small, sometimes as few as a couple of hundred bottles worldwide, and once it’s gone, it will never be repeated.
Presentation and Collectability
A hallmark of The Last Drop is the care taken in presentation. Each bottle comes in a bespoke leather case, accompanied by a 50ml miniature for tasting (allowing collectors to sample the spirit without opening the main bottle) and a certificate of authenticity. Hand-numbering and meticulous documentation ensure that every release has a clear provenance.
