Imperial 26 Year Old 1996 The Whisky Show 51.5% 70cl
An interesting bourbon barrel-matured bottling from now-demolished distillery Imperial. The folks at The Whisky Exchange released this 26 year old single malt for the 2022 Whisky Show. And it’s fascinating indeed. The ghost distillery might have made way for Dalmunach but its elegant, floral, cream soda-like style continues to win fans. This release is a stunning example of its unusual character.
Tasting note:
Nose: Like peaches and cream on a summers’ day, accompanied by floral honey, green malt, and a distinctive cotton note.
Palate: Round and gentle with that cream soda character, with sesame seed, mango, vanilla pods and soft black pepper adding depth.
Finish: Medium length with apricot and more drying pepper.
