Equilibrium III 22 Year Old Whisky Sponge 53% 70cl
An unnamed single malt here, part of renowned independent bottler Decadent Drinks’s Whisky Sponge series, that celebrates the balance of sherry and peat. In this instance, it’s a 22-year-old made from two fascinating casks. A 1997 refill cask was vatted with a 2000 peated Highland malt in a second-fill sherry hogshead. It was slightly reduced to 53% ABV on bottling. This is the final and softest edition in the Equilibrium trio, described by the team as a “quaffable sherry and peat-influenced dram” that tastes like “spooning a kipper inside a grandfather clock full of expensive cigars”.
