Bowmore 18 Year Old Whisky Sponge Edition No.74
Independent bottler The Whisky Sponge has a soft spot for Islay distillery Bowmore, and this brilliant release shows exactly why. It was distilled in 2003 and spent its life in a refill sherry butt. Fascinatingly, its maturation was ‘broken’ by spending some time out of cask. It was put back into a different refill sherry cask to continue its ageing – but it remains 18 years old. Exuberant with Bowmore’s classic dry peat smoke, it’s a beautifully constructed dram.
