A very special release here from Islay farm distillery Kilchoman. This is the oldest bottling in its 20th Anniversary Cask Series, an 18-year-old drawn from just five ex-bourbon barrels. It’s a robust, bold yet elegant expression with an array of toffeed fruits and butterscotch notes, all wrapped up in that signature maritime smoke. When Anthony Wills and his family started the distillery back in 2005, it would have been hard to imagine releasing whiskies like this. Here’s to Kilchoman!
Official tasting notes:
Nose: Full-bodied with a strong cask influence after 18 years, offering rich butterscotch, vanilla, and caramel, along with hints of toasted oak.
Palate: Robust, with sweet caramel and toffee fruits, balanced by a touch of peat smoke and subtle saltiness in the background.
Finish: Long with lasting toffee and butterscotch, and a hint of maritime smoke that rounds off the finish.
