Local Heros has landed! Big Smoke is part of a three-part of collection of whiskies from the team behind The Distillery at Coleburn, a closed Speyside whisky-maker set to become a first-of-its-kind whisky resort. While that’s in the works, Coleburn has released the first batch of Local Heros, a flavour-forward series of blended malts that celebrates whisky makers, custodians and enthusiasts – the community at the heart of the spirit. Big Smoke is the boldest of the trio, weaving together vanilla, cherry and coastal notes, along with a pungent medicinal smoke. It’s a delicious, great-value way to embrace the smoky side of Scotch.

Tasting notes:

Nose: Bright and vibrant, with zesty peels sitting above maritime, coastal notes. Caramel and vanilla pods emerge later, all embedded in an inviting bonfire smoke.

Palate: Initially the smoke turns medicinal, before evolving into an earthier woodsmoke profile. Estery orchard fruit notes play out, along with a smattering of espresso, baking spices, honeycomb and cigar.

Finish: Medium length with lingering sweet spices and bonfire embers.
