Bunnahabhain 23 Year Old 1999 Feis Ile 2024 53.3% 70cl
Bunnahabhain's second release for the 2024 Feis Ile festival. This 23 year-old expression was distilled back in 1999, the same year that Edrington briefly took over the distillery. This bottling showcases a progressive approach to cask ageing and maturation, created by blending whisky matured in a trio of sherry casks. Master Blender Julieann Fernandez selected liquid held in Amontillado, Oloroso, and Manzanilla casks to create a whisky layered with complex flavours, demonstrating the true craftsmanship of Islay whisky making. This release is one of 4,002 bottles.
Tasting notes:
Nose: Almond croissants with a sweet berry compote, creamy fudge, rose petals and desiccated coconut.
Palate: Butterscotch, strawberries with vanilla cream, honeyed cashews. Woody notes and hints of tobacco follow.
Finish: A dry finish balances out the initial sweetness. Pine needles and blackcurrant linger.
