Tesseron

Tesseron is one of Cognac’s most prestigious houses, renowned for its exceptional quality, rare long-aged expressions, and dedication to traditional craftsmanship. Founded in 1905 by Abel Tesseron, the maison has built its reputation not on mass production, but on curating one of the finest collections of aged eaux-de-vie in the Cognac region. For decades, Tesseron supplied some of the world’s top luxury brands before releasing its own Cognacs under the family name in the early 2000s.

A Family Legacy of Patience and Craft

Based in Châteauneuf-sur-Charente, in the heart of the Cognac region, Tesseron has remained family-owned across four generations. Today, it is managed by Alfred Tesseron, also known for his stewardship of Château Pontet-Canet in Bordeaux. The family philosophy is rooted in patience — ageing their Cognacs far beyond the legal minimums, often for decades, before release.

Tesseron’s house style is shaped by eaux-de-vie drawn exclusively from the top three Cognac crus:
• Grande Champagne - prized for finesse and longevity.
• Petite Champagne - adding body and depth.
• Fins Bois - lending roundness and fruitiness.

Cellars and Ageing

One of Tesseron’s greatest assets is its Paradise cellar, where some eaux-de-vie have rested in glass demijohns for over a century. The maison ages spirit in French oak barrels, allowing the interaction between wood, air, and spirit to create layers of complexity - from delicate floral top notes to deep rancio character in older releases.

The slow, unhurried maturation means even Tesseron’s youngest Cognacs offer remarkable smoothness, while older bottlings achieve exceptional depth and harmony.
